Whether you're a volunteer or career firefighter, our Professional Development Courses offer a wide variety of options to advance your training. Each course includes 30 days of online coursework followed by 1 day of in-person skills training, held in San Marcos, TX on the first Saturday of each month. All courses are available through TCFP or SFFMA certification pathways.
Meets NFPA 1002 and TCFP Chapter 7
It is designed for firefighters responsible for driving, operating, and maintaining fire department pumpers. Students will receive training in pump theory, hydraulics, apparatus inspection and maintenance, positioning apparatus, establishing water supply, and operating pumping systems during fireground operations.
It is designed for personnel responsible for the safe driving, positioning, and operation of aerial fire apparatus, including aerial ladders, platforms, and tower trucks. Topics include aerial apparatus design, stabilization and setup, tactical positioning, aerial operations in various fireground scenarios, and preventative maintenance procedures.

Emphasis is placed on leadership principles, conflict resolution, report writing, and basic administrative functions.

This course prepares students to manage organizational direction, develop policies and budgets, evaluate community risk reduction strategies, and oversee large-scale operations. Emphasis is placed on leadership in complex organizations, strategic planning, government relations, and organizational accountability.

It prepares individuals to deliver public education programs, present safety messages, and support community risk reduction efforts. Students will learn to adapt lesson plans, conduct presentations, and evaluate outreach effectiveness.

This course provides foundational knowledge and skills required to perform fire inspections based on the NFPA 1031, Fire Inspector I level.
